Biography

"ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS"

-Art is long, life is short-

Hippocrates

Liatte (Lee-Ah-tt) Dotan is an object conservator and owner of Dotan Conservation, LLC. She holds a Master's Degree and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Art Conservation from SUNY Buffalo State College. As a member of the American Institue for Conservation (AIC), Liatte performs all treatments in accordance to AIC's ethical guidelines.

After completing her BA in Art and General History at Tel-Aviv University, Israel, Liatte found conservation as the ideal field to fuse her love for the arts and sciences. She spent time interning at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem Israel and local private conservation practice where she became fascinated with organic materials such as leather and bone.

While she is highly trained in the treatment of a wide range of materials, including ceramics, metal, glass, plastics, and natural fibers such as basketry, Liatte has rich experience treating natural history collections such as taxidermy, skin and leather, feathers, and more.

Liatte's advanced internships at institutions such as the Arizona State Museum and Harpers Ferry Center, National Park Service expanded her knowledge of collection surveys, emergency response planning and disaster recovery, collection storage planning and rehousing, integrated pest management, hazardous collection material treatment and care, and composition of treatment protocols.
